I'm sure there are lots of examples of bad courier services.
Here's another!
If it makes you use someone else, then that's great.
Bought a present for my daughter's birthday.
Delivery attempt made by Hermes but we're not in.
Card through the door - "I tried to deliver but you weren't in - call this number to arrange a better time" The tosspot forgot to write the number!!!!
I try to contact Hermes to get them to arrange a better time.
"No sorry mate this was booked through Parcels2Go - you'll have to take it up with them".
But it was your employee who didn't do his job correctly.
"No sorry mate this was booked through Parcels2Go - you'll have to take it up with them".
But what can they do about your employee not doing his job correctly? You are in contact with your employee - just tell him to deliver on Monday.
"No sorry mate this was booked through Parcels2Go - you'll have to take it up with them".
I try to contact Parcels2Go
"No, you aren't the person who hired us to deliver the parcel - can't speak to you".
Driver sticks another card through the door - "I tried to deliver but you weren't in - call this number to arrange a better time" The tosspot forgot to write the number!!!!.................
Can you see where this is going?
Please, please, please, do me a favour and promise you'll never use these idiots to deliver anything for you.
So who did hire Parcel2Go to deliver the parcel? Can't they call P2G? Was it not you?
I've never used My Hermes - heard too many stories of poor service! As far as I know, My Hermes is a frachised network of mans with vans. Here you go - you can join and deliver your own parcels! : http://parcelnet.co.uk/recruitment.html
Hermes operates with a network of self employed couriers. If you are interested in becoming an independent courier and providing services to Hermes, please fill in the form below.
So, what number will the driver give you? Might not want a load of calls to a personal number and might not have the info available for some official number - so they might deliberately leave it blank out of not knowing what to do, depends on how they've been briefed on protocol.
Still, I don't get why My Hermes wouldn't help you with a number for the card, unless of course you called to complain rather than ask for the number - that would elicite a different response from customer service.
My Hermes are a budget courier who use self-employed (and often part-time) drivers who collect from the local delivery hubs and deliver on to the customer in their own cars. Their quality of service varies enormously - the chap who delivers for them locally to me is excellent often calling back later the same day if I'm not in when he first tried. He's asked me what times of the day I'm most likely to be around and now delivers anything he has for me during those times.

Nothing but good experiences receiving parcels with Hermes so far... The local delivery driver is a nice bloke & when he delivered here for the first time I explained where to leave a parcel if I'm not in etc... I've never sent anything with them though. There are lots of horror stories about every courier, I think no matter who you use or what service you pay for there's an ever present & unfortunately high risk of things going Pete Tong.

The problem is, you've got too much of a life, so you're never in. Solution: stay in, shun the outside world, and you'll not miss yer parcels. Simples.
Marco.
Or get stuff delivered to your work - if you can.
Parcels2go are a virtual carrier so Hermes are right your contract is not with them. You have to take it up with p2g and then they take it up with Hermes.

I always use Hermes, they have been reliable and cheap. I guess it all comes down to the individual who does the delivery.

Ditto. Just delivered an amp and some t/t bits to two different locations using MyHermes and P2G. Never had a problem previously and I'd recommend them. Sorry to hear about this problem though.

Well, that's true, but apparently they don't have a very good procedure in place for when the idiot delivering your stuff doesn't do his job. As with everything, it's great till it goes wrong!
I once used Hermes to collect some kit I needed to send. The driver which turned up was a pimpled youth in a beaten up old fiesta loaded high with various parcels. I cancelled the delivery on the spot.
First impressions and all.

Haven't had too much problem with Hermes it was Yodel that I had a nightmare with and they blatantly LIED to me...
Firstly they said I had something on the van which was 'out for delivery' and when it got to about 19:00 and I had no delivery I phoned and they said "oh no it was not on the van" and I went mental at them as I stayed in all day to receive it, so they said they would deliver the next day for me.... again it went on all day before I called them and they had the cheek to tell me a card was put through my door as I was not in and I informed them that I certainly WAS in as I was waiting for THEM... this c**p went on for a few days and my parcel eventually turned up.... I will NEVER use Yodel ever again and if I know someone is using them to send stuff to me I tell them to please use another courier....

I've had problems with Hermes and i know several other people who have had issues too, it seems like they like to employ 'coffin dodgers' (that's the age group just above me. :() for the core of their deliveries. A pal of mine waited a fortnight for a parcel then ended up putting a claim in. I had to wait five days for a parcel that should have taken two days to deliver, when i saw the doddering old sod who delivered my parcel i had serious doubts that he got home before croaking it.

Its a woman that does this area mostly and she has been coming here for years on and off...she is very good and will do everything she can to deliver it somehow....however, when she is off another guy comes and he is worse than hopeless.....its a lucky dip company...P2G are fine for low value stuff, and I always pick city link if I use them..I used to use UPS but my printer went south and you cant use them, or hermes without one...their loss...if parcelforce and city link can manage without a printed label, then I dont see the problem..UPS could easily give out labels to drivers o a porta printer like they used to...
Most parcel companies are bloody hopeless as far as public relations tbh.
