Its been a while since I last posted, here is whats been happening the the systems in the house.

Main system

Acquired a Quad 44 & another 606 from ebay. The cartridge was changed to a Benz Micro Wood SL, the ESL 63s were completely rebuilt by One Thing Audio, we added a Stax SRM600 and two pairs of SR507s, and we have a new Pioneer SC-LX 57 AV amp, a bit overkill as I'm only using 2 of its 9 amps!. Added a Cambridge audio Blu-ray player.

Man Cave Systems

Went to Ikea and got some Expedit shelving to accommodate the ever expanding vinyl collection. Added the Quad 34 & 606 from the main system. Added a Revox A77 which I got from SteveW last week.
The GL75 now has the RB300 & ZYX R100H fitted to it.

My Wives Classic system

Not much gone on in here except we have run out of vinyl storage space.

Also not shown I have a new 8 element FM aerial on the roof, the old one was blown down in the storms.

Wonderful stuff, Philip! :respect:

Apart from all the fantastic kit, what I like most is how both your good lady and you share your love of music together - *and* how your home acts as a facilitator for that passion, rather than (as is usually the case), music collections and systems being of less than secondary in importance to the lady of the house creating her idea of the 'perfect show home'!

Nice one :)

Marco.

Thanks for the kind comments, yes it makes a great difference if your other half shares the same interests. The Heals unit came with the system. Probably not the greatest base for the 301 but it suits the classic system well.

I like the 'wives classic system'. Some say you can't get ESL 57s to work ok in a small space but that's not been my experience. Out of interest, how many wives do you have? ;)

Quite so. I've used mine in massive halls and cupboards and they have always sounded fine. Preferable to 'normal' speakers in any situation.

PS Aren't apostrophes fun?

Just the one wife :-)
In an idea world a bigger room would be great, but the 57s and the 63s work very well in the rooms they are in. I think the bookcases behind the 57s stop / absorb the reflections. As always with 57s the sweet spot is quite small.

Love it, love it, love it . . . . especially the man cave system ;)

Thanks Tim.
The man-cave consists of two systems, the 2 decks and the PC are connected to the Quad which drives the Tangent RS4s, the two tape decks are connected to has and the Sugdon whick drives the JPWs. I also have an line out from the Quad 34 to the line in of the sugdon. As I said I have just got the A77 and I will be restoring it soon.

Oh what a lovely few systems there...

I just wish I had room for some Quad speakers again.... had some 57's a few years ago when I could give them the space they needed but not to be now I'm afraid... :(:(

The loft room will be a great auditorium ...a bit like my shed/studio shape, its like wearing a giant set of cans with the roof bringing the sound to your ears
