I do the compare the market search and find 4 quotes cheaper

Send this email to my current insurers

Hello

You have sent me by post a renewal quote for £311.09

I have had 4 other quotes all between £223.89 up to £ 273.48

Unless you can match these prices I will be changing my insurers

I have a 2009 2litre, 2 seat convertible, garaged, 6k miles per annum, £161 FC protected ncb, and I don't exactly live in the sticks, but I did have to take a new policy with the company via the meerkats to save £70 over my renewal price, insurance companies DO think we all button up the back and auto renew.

I'm paying ~ £150 for a Rover 416 SLi with a limit of 5,000 miles a year.

And yes, insurance companies all play the 'inertia' game (whether it is household or motor insurance). It always pays to shop around.

I've tried shopping around. Best quote I got for a year 2000 Saab 9-5 2.3L Turbo Aero Estate (something I'm looking at buying) via the comparison sites: £1200 ! Car is only worth about £700..

Phone my favourite broker for a limited milage policy, Peter Best Insurance, and it's £280 for 3k miles (I don't drive much), with legal cover, roadside assistance (maybe they're standard inclusions?) and that's without any no-claims bonus (I don't get any because I've only ever been on classic/limited milage insurance or named driver for all of my driving life). I live in central London too.
