Thanks for the great platform. I have been following threads on bushmaster and v-link mods and I am here to find out more and hope to share advise where i can.

my system is pc based at the moment:
ext ssd drive into esata > foobar on windows 7 into usb > dacmagic 100 (ext psu + modified) > Quad 405 (net audio sweep up)

being on a budget i am considering buying an old marantz, meridian or similar competitive cd transport since the pc is just such a pain to get right if one also uses it for work etc...

anyway, back to the music.....I am currently listing to Rene Aubry. During work i listen to a lot of sonatas and electronic and some indie stuff but i am also looking for old airy folk tunes

Can recommend a meridian as a cd transport,been using them since mid 90's,superb!

Hi alex,

welcome to AOS, I had Quad 405 as my first amp for many years before moving to a 606. They are a great amp and shows quality lasts.

May I recommend a Rotel RCD965BX as a transport, very solid build quality. Plug this into a Beresford DAC, you can pick the older models up quite cheap, and you will have a very good cheap CD front end.:)
