Headphones

I need to get some new headphones. I've previously had some alessandro headphones the basic ones and they were quite good. However I now need some closed headphones so I'm not annoying my missus (easily done).

I remember seeing a post about some Sony pro headphones which are popular but I think I read there are two models and many fakes online.

So what headphones are you using? What would you recommend? Budget, upto £150 maybe £200 and I'd maybe consider used although not sure how I feel about worn headphones.

Following a recommendation on here I have just ordered a pair of AKG K551 (same as K550 but with shorter lead), just £99 from Amazon (list is £249!). Reviews from around the net seem to rate them very highly.

The AKG 551's sound like a good plan.My regular phones are Grado RS1's,but when she has the tv up loud i use my AKG81DJ's,very nearly as good.
Funny stuff headphones,with a bit of modding £29 can sound as good as £700,just put some bluetak in the cups.Not heard the V6's,but people say they are a bit bland.

Does anyone have some Sony MDR-7510 headphones? Looking at reviews and feedback I'm struggling to work out if I should hunt out some MDR-V6 or go for the 7510.

Also got to find some genuine ones!

At the specified budget, i doubt you would be displeased with a good, clean pair of Denon AH-D2000.
They will require a decent HP Amp to fully florish, but will sound OK with an iPhone too.
To me, they are favourites, even to some degree preferred over my Denon AH-D7000...

I use them and they sound stunning for the price (around £70 new). IMO, they're as good as many headphones costing up to £350. If you can put up with their weight (they are rather heavy), then the Koss represent a serious bargain - SPPV at its best! :trust:

I'll second recommendations for the AKG K550 - pretty comfortable with a clear, nicely balanced and very musical sound. Mine cost £120 from Richer Sounds.

The AKG K550 look good but they are mighty big, I really need some that can be taken with me. Also I need whatever I go for to be easy to drive as at work I'd just be using my MBP.
