just had a listen to "Hotter Than July" , first time for many years , and really loved it , especially the track "Happy Birthday" , if you ain't got a copy , get one

Agree !! Stonking album. I had it way back when in the early 80's when it first landed but stopped playing it when my copy became battered as we often played house parties. My current system is a lot better than the ones I had back. The mint copy I got hold of a year or two back sounds gorgeous on it and has been played plenty of late. Not a bad track on either side. My young daughters love it too which is a big bonus :)

One of my first LPs.. (consider I got a deck in the mid 90s just before uni). Some quite funky grooves going on on the album. Think Rocket Love is my favourite track.

Somehow Happy Birthday coloured it as a cheesy album and didn't listen to it for a bit, having forgotten all the good tracks on it (and Happy Birthday as a full track - not just the chorus people play over and over in the media etc - is actually quite good).

Have a talk with god, on songs in the key of life is one of the most challenging song intros I can subject my system to.....really separates the men from the boys.

I'm sure everyone who's a fan of S Wonder has.

But I think Hotter Than July can be overlooked - hence the thread.

Secret Life of Plants has some gems on it too. Innervisions is great but I've heard it too many times so it's lost something with me.

Talking Book is the only album I have. Pretty good pop with a few standout tracks. Another artist I have admired from time to time but somehow didn't make it up to the top ten on my list.

Great voice.
