http://theartofsound.net/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=12124&d=1398004851Up for grabs is the highly rated Sony F670-ES which has just been checked and tested and had parts replaced by James: (istari_knight) who is rather an expert on these amplifiers.
This is what he done to it and then said this about it:

"I replaced the volume potentiometer [which is a sealed dual logarithmic audio taper model - Alps Blue Beauty variant.]
Completely stripped it down & cleaned/dusted everything.
Cleaned & lubed all switches & controls.
Cleaned protection relay switching contacts.
Gave it a general health check [no overheated components or dead/dying capacitors.]
Checked DC-Offset [Its fine.]
Reset the quiescent current [bias] to factory level

Its the finest example of a 670ES I've seen & would rate it 9/10... Its quite literally spotless inside."

Im looking for £199+UK posting and payment by paypal gift...collection also possible in London.

It really is in lovely condition - Unless someone has a NOS boxed example stashed away somewhere this as good as you're going to find anywhere.

Bargain price too :stalks:

That looks like a lovely example, is it still available?

If so i need to move my Unison Research Unico primo integrated on to generate funds as i really need an amp with a balance control.

Would you consider a part ex with cash adjustment or would you please wait 'til i sell my amp ?

Hi Martin,
Last thing I need is another amp so I will wait if you don't mind.
Thanks for the offer though..:)

That really is nice. If I had room I'd have it. Quality gear Sony. (I take it "spontaneous twin drive" means dual power supply?)

Its Japanese marketing speak for a separate regulated front end. IIRC the Power section runs off 24,000uF, the front end a separate 24,000uF & the phono stage another separate bank of 12,600uF caps... All of which are Elna "Silmic" :eyebrows:

Lovely amp this - the 670 was my first introduction to the ES stuff, and something of a leap of faith at the time. How good is it? Put it this way, I sold my Inca Tech Claymore and kept the Sony.
