I just found this forum as I was looking for advice about selling my musical fidelity x-ray series 100 cd player. I saw a thread but registered to comment and ask if the party still wanted one.
My name is Ross and I live in Melbourne Australia, I have travelled to the UK many times and would like to see more of the countryside.
Anyway thats what I have, a musical fidelity x-ray series system with the pre-amp and two of the twin mono block power amps pushing into a pair of Jamo concert 8 speakers, to my mind a fabulous replacement for my stolen Linn system.
But I dont use it much, the CD that is, so was thinking about selling it. To get some use out of the other pieces they are used in my home theatre setup, a sacrilege I admit but it is being used. I started the CD last night for the first time in a while and it sounds fabulous still.

Hi Ross,
Welcome to AoS. I think most of us would like to persuade you to get the old kit back into regular use again! What sort of music do you like?

Welcome Ross - do get that MF stuff playing decent stuff again! TV rots the brain. You won't regret it.

Yep its funny as soon as I start to think about selling I make the mistake of turning it on and playing some CDs. well to quote someone else "we do forget how much of a compromise we make over convenience with our music" Well it sounds fabulous still. I dont have many CDs now only about 200 if that, so I will probably keep it as I wouldnt get much money for it anyway. But without going nuts I would like to access my music on the NAS its all MP3s but most are 320bit but I am able to download lots of other stuff, the question is how to play it from the network [cable connected] to the pre-amp? Any directions I can look at. The NAS is synology. thanks guys for reminding to feel the quality not the width.

Hi chris I listen to almost anything from opera to ebooks [ not ebooks] there is always something on in the background, but not through this system.

I just realised that another device has the ability to stream to my system from the NAS its a Denon receiver once again I set it up and then forgot about it. time to play. cheers
