Spoke to my local vendor and he says some of the items are going to be even more expensive than ever..20 quid for a 7'' no thanks..he still has stuff left from last years RSD..

Yeah, for me the thing had it's day two or three years ago.
I'm more interested in supporting my local record shop (not store!) for the other 364 days of the year - as should we all.

There's a price list on the Piccadilly Records (Manchester) website (for the 400 or so titles they're taking) and the prices vary greatly, but most are on the high side. Not sure if I'll bother or not yet.

Did anyone see or get the 'Shades Of Deep Purple' LP {Mono Purple Vinyl}

If so what is the sleeve quality like & also what does the label design look like?

Well that was bloody expensive.
Up at 5am and managed to get served by 10.40 am!
some hardy souls were queuing from 10.30pm last night.
The good points are that there was Some good chat in the queue and it allowed me to talk to my captive 17 year old son for 4 hours, which was nice. ( and then afterwards watching Leicester beat QPR).... He bought some interesting limited vinyl by The Temples, Regina Spektor, Jagwar Mar, Disclosure......
Most things I wanted (especially Sam Cooke album) had gone, but I managed to get the LCD Soundsystem box set....so I'm happy.
Far too much money spent, but what the Hell.

My wife pointed out when I got home that for me that every day is record store day!

Rob from Sonata Hifi (pop-up shop in Berwick Street) told me people queuing all night. My lad got Oasis Limited EP after a 2-hour wait from 8am at Sister Ray. I went after lunch and was still complete madness, so had a coffee in Dean Street and went to Les Aldrich in Muswell Hill and picked up a few items, including "The Field - From Here We Go Sublime", my first trance album and I'm past the big 5 0. A bit Stratosfear ... ish.

I recall Les Aldrich still had a copy of the Sam Cooke album. Worth a phone call in the morning. I'll PM.

Nice to see that people got some good stuff. However as always their seems to be a downside. I was after a certain LP but could not get it where i am. It appears that quite a few copies of this LP have appeared on a certain Auction site as early as saturday dinner. selling at inflaited prices. This makes my blood boil & is no different from the front seat concert ticket buyout thing imho...

Fuming i am that i may after pay these people more than what they cost, yes of course im desperate for this LP :steam:

I thought it was suppose to be - first come first serve, one item per customer & are not allowed to sell other than over the counter till after the event. If you can buy multiple after a certain time i honestly think this needs stopping because it is obvious to a blind man what multiple purchases are going to end up being..

When RSD first started it was in the spirit of vinyl revival, now it has become a huge money making exercise
(why else would a sane person queue freezing his balls off for over 12 hours in some cases) if he wan't
after making a load of money? As far as I am concerned vinyl is for playing not collecting, there are easier
ways to make a few hundred quid than buying a load of RSD special pressings and sticking them on fleabay
the same day, but that's just me I suppose!

Marco, Snapper my friend Chris and myself went to Vinyl Tap late afternoon on RSD and still got a few of
the vinyl offers, Chris got the Pink Panther soundtrack on pink vinyl, good for demoing at shows he said. :lol:

It did sound pretty damn good actually!

Indeed it did! I have the original release on vinyl. It's a superb recording :)

You're really lucky to have a store like Vinyl Tap on your doorstep! For the sake of my bank balance, it's probably a good job it's nearer you than me - although I will be going back :trust:

Why am I not surprised . . . as one of those that did line up for hours on Record Store Day can I just say I did it because I'm a music fan, not to make money. I also didn't get the RSD release I wanted on Saturday after waiting in line for around 4 hours, so I sought one out and drove 120 miles today to buy it. I would also say the percentage of people who do rip off genuine fans are a fraction of those that lined up for hours to buy the music they wanted. In my experience Record Store Day is not just a money making exercise, but there are always some people out there who enjoy fleecing music fans with over inflated prices for things, happily I'm not one of them.

I hope you weren't after the Deep Purple André as I had that in my hand today, but put it back as I had already spent around £150 on vinyl for RSD and thought I had better stop :sofa:

This is a great album - I especially love 'Everyday'. Not that I have a lot of time for genre labels, but if you like it, and want to find similar stuff, probably best not to look for stuff called 'trance' - you'll get something quite different to The Field's stuff (and altogether less edifying) :)

I got quite a bit of stuff on the day.... I went to Polar Bear records in Kings Heath, Birmingham. Great little shop.

I also popped in 'The Diskery' and 'Music And Video Exchange' but they didn't have very much left by then.

i got bugger all, I was working on the day. TBH if you wait a month or two after RSD you can usually pick it up cheaper of ebay .

Paul Weller was really wissed-off with it this year with items going on-line before the day and for extortionate amounts. He swore (literally) that he would never get involved with it again.
