Pioneer PD-S703 arrived today via Ebay and although lights are on no one is home
Drawer goes in and out, using buttons or remote
When I go to play the CD it has a think for 2-3 seconds then goes back to 00 00 00 00
I'd like to get it working so appreciate any clues
This is not the one I bought from Nigel recently that's fine !
Just an idea - does it have a transport lock?

Even I forget that sometimes, swapping from a Meridian to a Pioneer.

Hi Mike,
Check the ribbon cables on the boards, may have worked loose in transit, just remove them and plug them back in.
Nigel
Just make sure you make use of an anti static strap or hold your hand to some grounded metal before you handle the ribbons. :)

Couldn't see anything and had a quick look through the manual.
The first one just worked too

Ooh thanks, will do, I hope that's it
The guy I bought it from insists it was working fine when he tested it before listing.
Seems a decent guy with 100% feedback

Check the laser lens. On some Pioneers the lenses popped out, weird I know. If you can find the lens put it back with some glue but NOT superglue.
Does the disc read when the drawer goes in?

That I might not want to do as I could mess up mightily
Nothing special, think it's normal
I'll check tomorrow

Well bonkers - or more like par for the technology course
Covers off
Nothing I can see amiss
Twiddle with various ribbons that look like they might move. They didn't
Twiddled with all sorts
Plugged in - works !
Banco de Gaia doing his thing right now !
So tech rule no 2, No1 being turn it off and on again
Open it up, twiddle around a bit and put it back together.
Could life be like that ?
