Printer

Anyone recommend/suggest a printer that is reliable and not too costly on ink. A mono would be okay. Inkjet or laser?

I have a Samsung ML-2165 (Mono Laser Printer). I bought this as I previously had a Samsung that I got from work as it was a bit iffy in loading the paper. That worked for years until it broke (of course :)

These are about £40 and the ink about £30 (of course you get a cartridge with it). I had the old one for 3 years and never had to replace the cartridge. I suppose it depends how much you use it.

I've had one of these for 4 years now . Very reliable and self cleans itself. Inks lasts for ages and are dirt cheap. Easily the best printer I've ever had.

Personally sick to the back teeth of buying printers. up to yet my cheap Epson 'SX125' has been reliable.fingers crossed

Laser for any volume, inkjet for low volume
Black is the cheapest to run by far
I like Lexmark as they have true Postscript - which we (used to) need
Many swear by HP and Brother as below

A local, collect only on Ebay, see it working would be fine

I purchased a Canon i-SENSYS LBP6000 Mono Laser Printer about 3 years ago for next to nothing as they were giving a cash-back so it only cost me about £30... It has been one of the BEST purchases I have ever made. I have had loads of different printers over the years but this has been the best by far

I have only replaced the printer cartridge 'once' in that time. The print quality is superb and the printer is very quick indeed

I also have a colour ink jet Canon printer but to be fair I never use it as the laser printer is so good, as long as you don't need colour !

So whatever the current version is of the LBP6000, that's what I would go for

Do NOT buy an HP under any circumstances unless you want a world of pain. Hopeless, with the crappiest and buggiest drivers known to man. How the great have fallen.

Wow. HP used to be a byword for the best you could get.
Samsung is not a name I know for printers

Thank you all for your suggestions. I've had two HP printers both total c**p. :( And an Epsom which was also a pile of dogs doodoos.
