Hi to all the AoS forum members!
I'm Matthew and, following a recommendation for AoS by RichB on a Facebook group, I've been having a good look around the forums and felt very much like I'd enjoy joining in, so here I am. Some of you might know of me from the WHFS&V forums as matthewpiano.
I listen to all sorts of music, including classical, prog rock, folk, jazz, and pop/rock. At the time of writing I'm listening to the Mozart Requiem in Daniel Barenboim's 1972 recording on EMI. I try to get to as much live music as possible. Nothing quite matches the thrill and excitement of being in the same room as the performers. I'm a performer myself too - a pianist - and my job is selling pianos.
Hi-fi wise I've been around the block a few times, and spent a lot of time as an inveterate box swapper. I've been through so much budget kit trying to achieve a convincing sound and I've done all the standard go-tos from Marantz, Denon, Cambridge Audio, Denon, NAD, Yamaha etc. I've also had better kit by Arcam, Naim (a Nait 3), Creek (4330R) amongst others.
My current system is the best I've ever had and I get so lost in the music with it that any future 'upgrades' or improvements are going to have to be carefully judged. I'm currently using the following:
Rega RP3 with Elys 2 cartridge and white belt upgrade
Cambridge Audio 540P phono stage
Roksan Kandy K2 CD player
Exposure 1010 integrated amp
Dynaudio DM2/6 speakers
Cabling is Chord Co. Chameleon VEE3 interconnects with Rumour 2 speaker cable. The amp and CD both have Merlin Tarantula Mk6 power cables. The electronics sit on a Blok 300 stand and the speakers are on Atacama Nexus 6 stands. I have Beyer Dynamic DT770PRO 250Ohm and Sennheiser HD595 headphones though I'm currently on the look-out for a decent headphone amp so I can use them again.
Anyway, that's enough about me for now. I'll look forward to chatting with you all in the forums!
