Croft Twinstar 1 hybrid power amp for sale at £400 plus p&p. Can be auditioned or collected from Edinburgh.

In perfect working order and with rare silver aluminium fascia and stainless steel case.

There is a tiny ding on the bottom right hand corner which can be seen in the photos. However this damage in mainly on the side and does not show when it is sitting in the rack. There are also some extremely light scratches to the stainless steel case that are more like polishing marks. I tried to photograph these but they did not show up too well.

Hi Paul,

I think potential buyers might like to see the internals, so could we have a pic with the lid off and a nice close-up of what makes the amp tick?

Cheers!

Marco.

Wish I could Marco. You have reminded me that I tried to take the case off when I bought it but the stainless steel cover is a wrap around secured on the underside by allen screws one of which I was unable to undo with my little allen key. I can't remember if it was just overtightened or threaded and needing drilled out. Either way I decided to leave well alone.

Probably torques down and it has sealed its self...try and get a set of long arm Allen keys; think Maplin still sell them and you should be able to budge it mate....ps, the Beresford dac is still going strong.

Thanks for your suggestion Grant but I'm a bit busy just now to get to Maplins and about as handy with tools as Abu Hamser. If I haven't shifted the amp in a week or two without a nude pic I might re-think it. Glad to hear the Beresford dac is working out for you.

No worries, Paul. If you can get the lid off and take a pic of the innards, I'm almost certain it will help you make a sale, but in the meantime, good luck!

Could you not manage to get the lid off? :)

Not attempted it yet Marco. I've been run off my feet at work. I bought a Kenwood Supreme Model 500 which is currently being serviced. When I go to collect it, I'll take the Croft with me and ask the tech to take the cover off. Watch this space.

No worries, Paul. I suspect that's why the amp hasn't shifted yet - sort out some pics of the innards, and if folk like what they see (as Croft gear from that era can vary so much), and I'm sure someone will buy it :)

Marco.

I must admit I am tempted to try this with my AN M2 Pre and Harbeth HL1-Mk4 speakers but I suspect it will be gone come the end of the month when I can afford it. As Marco suggests a picture of the internals would help.

Paul, I run the Croft with an AN M One to good effect. I think they are a great pairing in terms of SQ. That said, the AN pre has a little too much gain for the Croft so I use 10db Rothwell Attenuators on the inputs to the Croft.

I should have photos of the internals up within the week. Also, as I am in no great rush to sell, I would certainly hold the amp for you until early May if you were willing to pay a small deposit.

Hi Paul, I will wait until the internals are up before deciding and I am afraid having spent so much this month I couldn't do a deposit anyway. Although i have bought and sold I and done far more of the former I am afraid. :(
