Connecting Tweeters

I have been doing some modification to a VW Transporter and built in a pair of Gale Gold monitors into new boxes I have built. I needed to cut the wiring on the tweeters to remove them and are slightly further away from the crossover. In terms of soldering new wire from the crossover to the tweeter can I use thin copper external speaker cable or should I use the silver coloured cable that is currently used? Does it make any difference?

The copper cable (which I have) is the same gauge but what difference would it make if the gauge was thicker?

The likelihood is that it would make little or no sonic difference Ray. The silver coloured cable is probably tinned copper or silver plated copper. I would use OFC copper or tined copper only to prevent oxidation of the cable. Your transporter though probably has a fair few metres of ordinary copper connecting vital sensors to the engine management system ;)

Thanks Reffc. I'm not too worried about the minute differences in quality in my van (although I will be very pleased if things are sounding sweet). I just want to make sure that things will work. Maybe I'll post a picture up on here when they are completed.
