I'm in the market for a budget DAC. I havent had a proper [FIIO doesnt count !] standalone DAC since the time of Meridian 203 / CA Isomagic / MF X-DAC so things have probably moved on somewhat !

Must be black
Must have at least 2 optical inputs
Must be around £100

Judging by eBay prices the CA Azur DacMagic & Beresford Bushmaster mk1 are the obvious choices I suppose... Anyone got something suitable for me ?

Nice Audio Alchemy DAC on ebay sat at £40 plus postage.

Great DACs, especially so when you fit a decent power supply to them instead of the soppy wallwart supplied as standard :eyebrows:

Don't know about "at least 2 optical inputs" but I don't know of any DAC at 10 times your budget that has more than 1, but it is black :stalks:

I have a Cambridge Audio DacMagic-B Azur.
One of the original What Hifi 5* award winning DACs, I do have it advertised elsewhere for. £120 + £10 P&P
Boxed with all accessories, very good condition, a few marks on the underside.

Would be open to a near offer.

How about a DPA Little Dac Three?

I cannot believe this is sat at only £17 with 19 hours to go

Thanks for the idea's Frank but I've had both of those in the past and didn't really like them... The LB3 was okay.

I think both CA & Beresford have 2 optical inputs ?

I have one of theirs, although a different model with external psu and is is a really good sounding dac.cost me a bit more than that and is quite old but it is really lively.

I didn't know there was a "nice" Audio Alchemy DAC! :)

Should be OK for the money I suppose, but having owned the 'Dac in the Box' and the 'Digital Decoding Engine', I can't say I was all that impressed. The bottom of the range Theta Cobalt or Chroma DACs run circles round them. I've compared them.

I would take this one, very good for the price IMO, with 2 coax and 2 optical inputs.
I used to have the Bushmaster MKI.
Now I have the MKII, after selling the first to a friend who is really happy!

Hi Nick, is it black ? If so I'm very interested.

Hi

Yes it is black and have taken a photo and noticed a very faint scratch on the top so £90 due to mark.

If you have an email I will send the picture.
