I've been using this CD polisher for years and am on my second set. However, something I did a few days ago reminded me of its value and confirmed that it most definitely works.

My car's Sat-Nav had been on the blink for a while, with "DVD read error" followed by ejection of the disc happening every 20-30 mins. I had used a lens cleaning disc to no avail. I was pretty much resigned to having BMW replace the built-in DVD drive at great expense when I remembered my Auric set. Thinking that I had nothing to lose, I brought the DVD Sat-Nav disc indoors and gave it the full treatment with black pen and polish. It certainly looked shinier than before. Three days later and the system has been working flawlessly with not a single read error! The on-screen map moves more smoothly without the jerks that had characterised difficulties in reading the map data. For me, this is proof positive that Auric aids the laser/read amplifier system into reading the data with fewer errors.
The kit consists of a bottle of blue polish, a black marker pen and some nice cleaning cloths, as well as a cardboard template. Apply a few drops of polish to the playing side and buff to a high shine. Then use the pen to blacken the inner and outer rims.
What does it do for CDs? To my ears, it sounds more secure with a better sense of timing; that Technics turntable feeling of metronomic accuracy. It's definitely worth the money.
