Brand new member here. I discovered the forums during my search for a new DAC to replace the internal unit on my Squeezebox Classic (version 3) and am looking forward to learning about the various options and sharing the results of the upgrade process.
I've been a budget audiophile most of my adult life and really enjoy it. I collected a fair number of CD's over the years and starting in 2005 began ripping them to FLAC files so I could stream the music. I have 2 Squeezebox Classics that I got in 2005 that have served me well. My main system consists of the Squeezebox feeding into a Cambridge Audio azur 940 integrated amp. The speakers are a pair of Hawthorne Duets, an open baffle design that produce some great sounds.
Last year I got into the world of headphone audio when I purchased a pair of MrSpeakers Mad Dogs and a Schiit Magni headphone amp. This was a big upgrade from my 20-yr old Sony headphones driven off the Squeezebox internal amp. I now think it's time to improve on the DAC side of things especially since the Squeezebox internal unit doesn't handle high bitrate streams.
As for musical tastes, I like a bit of everything but tend to favor classic rock, blues and instrumental jazz. I listen to music (via spotify) most of the day while at work but my critical listening takes place at home and is usually 1-2 hours a day. When I'm not working I spend a lot of time behind the camera lens as a photographer and also indulge my love of road cycling, running and craft beer whenever possible.
I'll be posting very soon in related forums and am looking forward to the community.
Cheers!
Mark
