I have to agree that at £80 they are a complete steal as normal price for these would be between £180 - £250, depending on their finish... black ash seems to be the least expensive and the Walnut, and other wood finishes, are more desirable and therefore more expensive

I had a pair of Minstrels and they are as good as everyone says they are and might well be worth the 120 odd miles to pick them up; I've cerainly travelled that sort of mileage to pick up a pair of speakers before now .... ;)

Yes £150+ is the going price, but I picked up my minty black veneered ones (advertised as barely used) for £75 a few months ago. I know they were telling the truth with not used as the "goop" on the drivers had properly seeped into the crack of the pole pieces as happens when these speakers are unused… Wish I had gotten a wood-veneered Minstrel though. ;)

Yes that is one 'little' problem of the older Royd speakers but luckily a very simple fix

If one that takes a bit of patience with the paper and solvents… simple though and easily resolved.

I used to run Royd Abbot floorstanders before i got into EMI speakers, they were terrific. Some guy in New Zealand eventually bought them off me and had them shipped specially.

sorry, thread drift. have a bump on me.

I've a pair that I bought last year from Bourney on the Wam

They are white and don't have the bases, but the cradle stands ...

I'd be looking for £150 but they would have to be collected - I am not interested in shipping them.

I am looking to sell them to a good home so let me know if you are interested.

I could sort out some pictures if you want

Tim

Mail sent ... And a bump in case others are out there...

Am sitting listening to the Beatles through them - captivating but a bit bass shy ...

Thanks guys but the quest continues.
I'm listening to the Eden and in my room I really prefer them to the rega rs3s. They are a bit bass shy but I get more out of them. Would the sorcerers be an improvement on the Eden or just a side step?

The Sorcerers I expect will give up a little bit in terms of treble immediacy but with a deeper and more balanced sound. Unusually the Sorcerer used a 2nd order crossover as Royd preferred 1st order ones.

So to answer your question either a side step, better or worse than your Edens. :p
