View Full Version : WTD: UMIK-1 minDSP Measurement Mic
Anyone got one they've got bored with they want to sell?
I fancy playing with some Dirac R/C software, me.
Low chance I know, but hey...

Just got one, not had time to play with it yet though.
Did you import it or find somewhere in the UK with one?

Imported. Bought along with a 4 way board to try n place of the Behringer DCX2496 I'm using at the mo.
Well if you do play with the Dirac demo do post about it. Main interest is how transparent it appears to be but I guess that'll be proportional to how much EQ is has to apply. Then again it maybe OK even if it has to apply a lot. Dunno til I try.

Not come across the Dirac, just downloaded REW as recommended on the minidsp website.

Dirac and miniDSP are getting together. I'm assuming you bought a miniDSP box too, as REW seems to need or produce output for one (I'm no expert though just had a quick read on their website). I'm just gonna play with the mic and use the free trial s/w from Dirac initially. I want a measurement mic anyway.

Yes bought a box, I reckon it'll better the Behringer, or at least I hope so. I've run my OB's actively for quite a while now, be interesting to measure them properly and tailor the frequency response to suit.
Box is good for an analogue front end - fit and forget - but I reckon no box is best for digital - no A/D process to go through.

Majority of my listening is now vinyl, though FLAC still sounds good. Not in the same league as the black stuff though to my ears.
Just got the mic today, so time to play with this: http://www.dirac.se/en/consumer-products/dirac-rcs.aspx
If anyone is interested, I might run a thread on it.
Yes please do I might go down a similar path but might us a Moto Ultralite-mk3 Hybrid and when I can add direct digital amplification Thinking Bantams mid and Amptastic Treble keeping the Berhinger Inuke for the bass. If I had the money I go for the Rednet 1 so could feed it from the Ethernet cable
OK when I've had a good play with it. The s/w is expensive, so if it doesn't offer genuine, and I mean genuine better than without results I'll say so.

Count me in. Still not had time to try the UK out, not had a day off for weeks.
I presume you going fully active with this Justin
No John, just a couple of massive tube monos into some Apogee Duettas using the (non-standard) passive x-overs. All R/C will just be done on the laptop prior to reaching the DAC - cos that's how Dirac Live works.
still interested how it will work out
Cool. I'm hoping these guys know what they're doing i.e. the applied mathematical processing doesn't provide too many negatives along with the positives.
