I wish I could even call myself a newbie audiophile, but cannot even claim that. I just like hearing good sound and listen to all types of music, all day while I work.
Amongst my current amps (in no special order) are a Marantz 2240b, an upgraded Audiolab 8000a, and a Quad 77 integrated. I also have a Pioneer SX-D5000 which was restored to
working order (lights and all) by an engineer whose name I have shamefully forgotten. Eventually, I will get a more appropriate amp...I was lucky enough to pick up a pair of LS3/5a's cheap at a boot sale, which needed no work and should have been enough for my modest tastes. I sort of got hooked...Currently, I am listening to some unknown homemade speakers from a similar source (at a similar price), which I find slightly more musical. Currently, I looking for to try and find a decent pair of kef 104.2's, which might work for me with my main room layout.
