Hi All

Sadly, I need to downscale slightly again and as a result I'm moving on my gorgeous Puresound 2A3 amp.

This is only just over a year old and a very special model. Guy did a couple of mods, i'll quote the previous owner (Tom Montesquieu - I'm the 2nd owner):

"...the biggest was to replace all the coupling caps with Mundorfs (the only mod he thinks this needs) and also added a ground lift...".

So Guy added the above plus an upgraded set of 2A3's which are EH's. I have also added a few tasty tubes -

2 x pairs of TJ/Sophia Brass base 6SN7's
2 x NOS (at the time) 1967 Mullard rectifiers.
(i'll also include the original 6SN7's)

ALL of the tubes have had less than 100 hrs use

It has a small mark (you can only really see it with a direct light on it) on the side - other than that it is absolutely immaculate. It comes with the valve cage and all the original packaging and instructions.

It is an absolutely superb and musical amp - beautifully transparent with the sublime midrange you'd expect from 2A3's - but with enough welly (18w) to play rock with gusto. I have been meaning to do a review of this since xmas, but work has been awful and I just haven't had the time (sorry Guy) but it really is a magical amp with the great build quality you'd expect from Puresound. I might try and fit in a retrospective review soon!

Hifi Pig did a great review of it here:

I'm in no rush for a few weeks, as the amp that is replacing this won't be ready for a while, but happy to move this if it sells.

I can post via insured courier at cost - or it can be collected (and heard) at mine in Sussex - I could also deliver within 50 miles or meet somewhere if possible. I could also arrange for it to be collected from the west midlands.

£1,360

My Conrad Johnson EV-1 will probably be up for sale in a few weeks too.

Cheers

Rich

Guy has confirmed:

There were 8 Mundorf Silver in Oils in that as I recall. Not cheap to do. They did sound nice though.

Lovely amp, I love the 2a3 though low power but so sweet sounding, would buy it but time isn't right.

It's not so low power, on my Tannoys I felt this interstage 2A3 amp had more grunt that several KT88 amps I tried.

If I wasn't skint i'd have it back in a second. My review is here (I later went back and bought one - the mods Guy did removed any reservations I had about using it with a preamp too). http://hifipig.com/puresound-2a3-integrated-amplifier/

Relatively low powered, a 300b is usually good for about 8-9 watts, the 2a3 normally 3-4 watts per valve, Guy has done something very clever in the circuit with this amp.
