Hi all, just found this and thought it would be fun to join.

I've been playing with hi-fi since a tender age of 14 although I wouldnt call the equipment I had then as hi-fi! This interest slowly evolved into me becoming an electrical engineer, although I ended up doing control systems and industrial engineering rather than audio. I sompleted a part time degree in 1983.

I run two systems and parts swop around between them as the fancy takes. Parts are presently setup as

Linn LP12/Ekos MK1/Ortonphone MC30(?); Tricord Dino+ phonoamp / Teac A3340 R-REEL /Mitchell pre-am / William Hart poweramps / Quad ESL63's
Arcam FMJ cd / Sudgen A21 (original) amp / IMF ASL40 speakers

The Quads are sparking at the moment and I need to get them sorted.

I have numerous other bits some of which I am selling on ebay to make some space at home, some already sold, some I will keep.
Ferrograph R-Reel, Revox B77 R-reel, Tanberg R-Reel, Akai R-Reel, HMV Stereoscope 556 preamp, Leak Varislope III preamp, Leak Troughline tuner, a couple of Leak Stereo 30's (or are they 20's?), a Rogers transistor amp, a Rogers tuner, an Armstrong 521 amp, a B&O music center, a Thorens TD124II, a Garrard 401, an SME II, a couple of Thorens Lab80's, a pair of Leak 60 speakers plus many other parts I'm sure I've forgotten about whilst typing this!

Much of the above I am going to have to work on to get working, luckily I've not got too many years left before retiring and the above will give me plenty to keep me busy!

None of the above was collected on purpose, I've just got an aversion to seeing good stuff being thrown in the bin!

Lunchtime is at an end now so I'll post more later.

Looking forward to reading about much interesting stuff on this site, there is lots of happy reading here I think.

Hi welcome to the forum, I'm sure the regulars will be along shortly to do the same.

I'm not to far away from you just off J28 (M1) and I work on the North side of Chesterfield.

There are quite a few 'bake off's' / meet ups around these parts.

Best regards,

Rob.

Hi Howard, welcome to AOS :) What do you like to listen to on all this kit you've acumulated?

What music is too long a question to answer I think, rock (as long as its not heavy (man)), jazz, classical, folk, a little opera, a little "musicals", a little country, a little third world, a little reggae. most things as long as its not rap, heavy rock, county & western.

Main is rack & jazz with all the other stuff thrown in. There is a lot of wierd stuff in my music collection but it only gets played when my wife is not around!

Should have also said that musically I'm still stuck mainly in the 1970's & 80's, at least artist wise:lol:
