Jolida fx tube dacmk3 as a preamp

Read glowing reports about this dac and I'm very close to purchasing one of them, just wondering if anyone's tried it as a preamp and how it fared ?

IME these are better as stand alone DACs rather than use as a preamp. It does depend on the match with the power amp to be used though. The preamp volume section is more intended for flexibility than as a high quality pre stage.

Suck it and see is the only way; just bear in mind it isn't and never was intended as a high quality preamp stage.

From the lack of comments it seems most have not tried it as a pre. As Paul states, give it a go, very little in the signal path so it is surprisingly good but it is not a dedicated preamp. No relays involved to optimise sound quality so it does not cut volume to the headphone jack and vice versa.
