Mint condition Thorens TD-124 ( with MØRCH Arm ) advice

Somebody I know is selling a MINT condition ( just serviced also ) New old stock Thorens TD-124 with a MØRCH arm ( not sure which one ) for £500 , is this a bargain price or is it about fair?

I dont know anything about thorens so any advice or valuation would be massively appreciated

If it is a DP6 arm (which I own) then the 2nd hand price for that alone is more than £500.

Is it April the 1st already, :scratch: had the DP6 myself and a cracker it was, sold to fund my financial fall out, :(

Is the Thorens TD124 a Mk. I or as Mk. II?

Regardless of which Mk. it is, £500 is an absolute bargain. Thorens 124s these days usually go for £750 - £1000. I don't know much about the MØRCH arm, but I would have thought it was worth about £250, so together with the 124, £750 would seem to be a more realistic price.

The guy who is selling used to own a hi-fi shop in the 80s and is selling a lot of new old stock.. he also has a thorens reference turntable with 3 arms.. and a ton of vintage arms, cartridges still boxed and sealed.. and a boxed / sealed SX1080

I can get a list.. he does not have prices - He also does not have any website.. its somebody I got talking to a few days ago and he revealed he had tons of new old stock HIFI when I told him about my obsession

I'll get a list.. however like I said - there is no prices, only offers as he's not sure what a lot of it is worth in todays market

The Thorens Reference was their statement turntable. An absolute brute of a design using a cast metal chassis filled with metal swarf-loaded epoxy resin. it weighed 90Kg!

The Reference was an experiment: Thorens put all of their knowledge gained in years of research and development in this model, and make the best sounding turntable regardless of the costs. Every Reference turntable was individually manufactured by hand. This made it possible to comply with customer special requests regarding color, tone arms and motor lifts.

Officially, 100 units were built and sold.

Features:

· Thorens belt drive.

· Three phase motor with clutch pulley.

· Electronic motor regulation.

· Three speeds: 33 -1/3, 45 and 78 rpm.

· Pitch control ± 6%.

· Illuminated stroboscope at the outer turntable rim.

· Heavy basic chassis and heavy floating chassis, both aluminum castings. The specially calculated chambers in the floating chassis are filled with grained iron for optimum damping

· Vibration and shockproof 4-point suspension with gold-plated housings. Each suspension point is individually adjustable bubble level

· The resonance of the floating chassis can be adjusted (1-5 Hz) for exact matching with the tone arm and cartridge combination.

· Specially damped turntable platter of 6.6 kg weight and 30.3 cm diameter.

· New and expensive main bearing construction for the world's best rumble figure. The high precision ground steel shaft rotates in oil bathed hard material bearings.

· Record stabilizer, gold-plated.

· 3-tone arm platforms of various sizes.

· 2 electric motor lifts (optional).

· Gold-plated control boards, mounted on the main chassis.

· Large dust cover.

· Wow and flutter according to DIN 45507: < 0.02% rumble un-weighted, measured with Rumpelmesskoppler according to DIN A, better than 82 dB.

· Weight: approx. 90 kgs.

· Dimensions: 620x360x510 mm.
