Hi guy's I've bought my self another very good cartridge from the classifieds here, a Reson Reca, which is fantastic so I thought I would offer my SAE for sale here first.

These carts are very well regarded and are NOS from about 1980, they have a bit of a cult following on the various HI-FI forums which has pushed the price of them up considerably these past four or five years but they are very very good carts which can be used with a MM phono stage.

I bought mine from a fellow forum member last summer and I believe it was brand new and never used albeit the cart is 30 years old.

I've loved it and it's seen off a number of other carts that I've tried since notably a Denon DL-110 and more recently an ADC ZXM MK 3 MM cart, it's very very easy to set up, I've used it in a stock Technics SL1200 MK2 tonearm and Technics headshell to great effect and also on a Micro Seiki MA-202 tonearm and HS in which is sounds fantastic. I've also used in an A&R A60 amp's phono stage and my Brio-R's phono stage, an Arkless standard modded CA 640P phono stage and also the Turbo version of that phono stage and the cart has sounded great in all of them.

The cart has been used daily since I got it so probably around 600 hours use so maybe about just under half it's life left.

I'm looking for £90 posted to a UK postcode and I'm also prepared to send this abroad but the case is quiet heavy so expect international postage to be about the £15 mark with maybe more to America etc but please get in touch by PM for postal costs which will be at cost anyway.

Payment by bank transfer, paypal gift or cash on collection from Glasgow.

Please get in touch for payment details etc.

Thanks for reading

Tony

PS, the headshell isn't included in the sale.

Hi Grant it's a Micro Seiki HS 202 I think, standard SME/Technics mount I've no idea about a JVC but it's a fantastic headshell, quite light.

You can pick them up for about between £35 and £60 on ebay.

Regards

Tony

PS, happy to let you try it BTW.

cheers Tony, probably would fit...think it is 1/2" and same as technics....was thinking of upgrading or replacing my old jvc in the shed.Just upgraded everything else out there and the sound from the TT was a bit behind...Peter was quick off the mark....have my eye on a project debut 3, so might go that way.Looked a braw cart.

Yep that was a quick sale but you have to be quick when some stuff goes up for sale on any of the forums.

The SAE is a fantastic cart Grant, it took a really good cart to replace it and the Reca is an outstanding cart, very musical but so too is the SAE.

I would certainly buy another one in a heartbeat.

BTW, let me know if you want a borrow of the headshell.

Regards

Tony

no problems Peter, I never saw your post when I was reading it. Might just buy a 1/2 inch headshell and ortofon red all in one for it.....it is actually a very good deck, just not cool audiophile wise.
