Hello everyone,
My name is Dennis and I have just returned to vinyl after dusting off a crate of my old lp's that had been sitting in the closet for 20 years. Surprisingly, they were still in good shape and sound great on my system:
project debut carbon with the ortofon 2m red cartridge (currently)....cambridge audio 551p....Onkyo receiver and Definitive Technologies speakers for home theater and music enjoyment. I have to say that I love the project debut carbon turntable, but unfortunately if does not have auto return and I do tend to snooze off occasionally when listening to some really nice relaxing music. So I am in the market for a gently used Technics non 1200 series turntable. Sorry.....I know that they are great tables but I think the premium paid for the 1200 moniker is a little steep. Too many people buying on 1200 name recognition only. There are alot of fine Technics tables out there. Looking for an SL q2.....Sl d202....SL 1350....Sl 1610 (love that black plinth). Am waiting for a couple that I purchased on Fleabay. I did get the d202 and a 1650 and a D2 and will audition as second turntable. Will resell the ones that I don't want. If not satisfied with any I will keep searching. My music tastes are eclectic....traditional jazz...rock...classical...and some folk....(Joni Mitchell) and similar.
Looking forward to perusing the forums for the informational gems that pop up on these collaborations. I have been monitoring a few and have picked up a lot of really great info in the last couple of weeks.
Also have been ripping vinly to wave files using an Art Phono Plus preamp and using Sony SoundForge studio to try and archive some of my favorite stuff. Enjoying that and also always looking for more info on that whole process.
