G'day all,

I've come across a very nice pair of Mission 780 speakers, circa 2001. They look like this, albeith with a dark rosewood veneer.

The original problematic Keraform woofers (which failed) have been replaced with new Aerogel woofers.

Unfortunately one of the original Audax tweeters has also kicked the bucket. The tweeter is known as the 50-HF025 and is quite a small and lightweight tweeter, with a neodymium magnet. The diameter of the front face is slightly under 40mm.

Here are some photos of the damaged tweeter. The voice coil is open circuit, and there is no way to disassemble and repair it:

From what I can tell, there is also a 70-HF025 tweeter found in some Mission speakers (eg. the M71, M73 and M73, M7C, M7DS) as well as Denon speakers designed by Mission (the SC-M50 and SC-M51 spring to mind, but I think the tweeters might be glued into these models).

AFAIK, the 50-HF025 was also found in the Mission 781, 782, 783, 774, 771e, 78DS, 77C, and possibly others.

Does anybody have a source for these suckers? I am having no luck at all here in Australia. One very helpful gent on ebay UK is selling a single 70-HF025, but I really require two if I decide to go down that road. Nobody in Australia has been able to help, and likewise, I'm coming up with blanks via the usual websites overseas.

Finding a single 78DS or M7S would be fantastic, as these contain two tweeters each, and shipping wouldn't be prohibitively expensive. The 77C centre channel contains three such tweeters, and would be even better!

Thanks in advance for any advice, as I'd love to resurrect these babies.

cheers
Pete

Give the chaps at Wilmslow audio a call, they've helped me out with replacement drivers etc. for mission speakers in the past...

...very helpful chaps, and may be able to offer an alternative tweeter

Thanks for the suggestion Will! I've dropped them an email.

I might look at posting a WTB ad for one of the various speakers that contain these tweeters. If I were able to source one of the rear dipole speakers that contains two tweeters, this could solve my problems entirely!

I may have found a place in The Netherlands who have a replacement pair for around $AUD100 delivered, but I'd love to exhaust all other options first.

cheers
