The old Decca sweep arm both collected dust and discharged static (if you connected the earth wire to earth).

Seems like a neat idea.

I wouldn't have thought so. I had one in the '70s and left it on when I gave the deck to my sister. In the '90s Bull Electricals who used to sell all kinds of surplus electronics were selling them for £2.50 I think. I got one or two and gave them to friends.

Think you will have to engage in some DIY.

I can't work out what he has done. The photograph is very confusing.

It's just a block of wood with the carbon fibre bristles level with the edge of a record when it's on the deck, and an earth wire attached. Sits 3 to 4mm from the edge of the record.
