View Full Version : Techne-Audio DL-103
I've just ordered this heavily modified DL-103 from Techne Audio in Germany...I can hardly wait to get it home and mounted (sounds like I'm talking about a woman!!!).

I've heard the top Soundsmith DL-103 mod and I'm expecting at least that level of performance...I hope I'm not disappointed.

Drool! Have you also heard the Zu modded 103? I'd be interested, when you've run it in, in your impressions.

I have heard the Zu DL-103, compared to mods that include an improved stylus I haven't been too impressed by the Zu.
I've never actually heard the cart I ordered, when I reviewed the website I just couldn't help myself. And it should be home and run in before the Wife sees the Visa statement!!

I couldn't detect a price on the site, any hints?
The basic model with DL-103 can be seen at http://www.ebay.de/itm/Graphit-Gehause-m-Denon-DL-103-Boronnadeltrager-Shibata-Dia-Nadelschutz-/281275934581?pt=DE_TV_Video_Audio_Sonstige&hash=item417d5a2775
I bid less and my offer was accepted...the value of my offer in Canadian funds was ~$700.
A company like Isokinetik do a graphite housing, think about £99 new.
I'm thinking about getting an Australian cousin who's visiting in May to bring one or two of these over...

I know nothing about them. But the woods used look gorgeous and the cartridge isolator is cheap(ish) as chips.

Rick, you have PM
Gordan, please let me know if you received my response...it turns out that I have pissed at least one person off by screwing up the send function.

Please, let us know the impressions when you get it up & running!
I was hoping that I would be writing a review of this cart by now...unfortunately I'm writing to tell others to beware of this seller.
The cartridge arrived damaged, the graphite shell had cracked were it was drilled and tapped for mounting. I contacted the seller and provided photo's to which he responded that this is an unfortunate part of working with graphite. Of course I did not want this cart and told the seller I would be returning it.
I won't bore you with the rest, only that Ebay is sending him an email today to ask him to respond...he hasn't responded to me since I sent the cartridge back.
Please don't get caught the way I did.
Rick.
Sorry to hear of your bad news. I have no doubt eBay will be able to refund your monies.
What I don't understand is how the graphite headshell, fitted with the generator, broke during carriage. Was it, in your opinion, poorly packed?
Anyway a shame, as I was looking forward to reading your review.
