My names Mark...
And I'm an audioholic.
Living in Fife (Scotland, UK) I've had an unhealthy fascination with audio, particularly speakers, since an early age.
Not one to ever have the money to fully bring to life my fantasies in this area, the second hand market along with eye watering surfing sessions has kept my interest keen over the years.
The addition of a wife, 2 young children, a mortgage, a long commute and all the other baggage ;-) you can slowly accumulate over a lifetime have lessened the time I have to spend to 'play' with audio (& repairing audio gear).
My area's of interest are pretty much anything to do with audio (and did I mention speakers?), but primarily:-
- Stereo/audiophile systems.
- Surround sound & home cinema.
- Guitar amplification.
I don't own any 'fancy' kit, but my pride and joy are my TDL Monitor transmission line speakers (currently in storage in the spare room, a/w space & time to be lovingly set up).
The reason I have joined today is that a "TDL speaker" search stumbled on this site with a thread that appeared to contain a picture of my stereo set-up - it appears I must have one of the few pairs of TDL Monitors visible on the web as I've come across the picture on a few threads since posting it a few years back.
I also have a couple of pairs of TDL Studio 1's that I was intending to sell, but I'm currently considering an all-transmission-line 6.1 system for a garage conversion home theatre.
I'm imagining the Monitors for FL & FR, Studio 1's for C & R, with Studio 1 M's for LR & RR.
Although the garage conversion will probably never happen, I definitely intend to do a mock up trial set-up shortly to see how a 6.1 TDL system sounds, with a projector, a good bluray & some Woodford Reserve :-)
Possibly just passing through, but i'll have a lurk about for juicy info & discussion when I get a chance.
