View Full Version : Wanted: Knosti "bath"

I already have one Knosti record cleaning "machine", but I'm looking just for the bath part (with brushes) to use for a rinsing stage.

Anyone got one spare knocking about? Rather not go to the expense of buying a whole new kit (and they are very expensive for what is just a few bits of plastic!)

Thanks

With a bit of ingenuity and a minimum of DIY skills you might be able to convert one of the old generation of Joseph Joseph chopping board holders, the ones with 4 sides of equal height rather than the current version with just the 2 end sides. I did, for the same purpose and it works fine.
Thinking laterally again, you might consider one of those Karcher window cleaner vacuums (with the smaller working blades) to vacuum off the surplus liquid. If your DIY skills are up to it you may be able to supplement the upper (as used) blades with a 'hang over' of a piece of the micro-fibre paint pads to give the grooves a final scour under vacuum.
I've patented the ideas so royalties are payable :) .

Keiron:
I think i know what your trying to Achieve. Clean the shyte off in one bath, a fresh clean in the second? ;)

I have a couple of these, they do a suprisingly good job but i did actually ruind a re-issue label when the fluid ran under the Axial section {it was tight too}.. This is the only gripe i have with this system.

I use the double dip method. First is with my cleaning fluid and the second with distilled water. Works a treat - no electric bill, you don't go deaf and if you get set up properly, you can clean 30 - 40 in an hour.

I used this method myself with good results but an RCM is more effective and quicker as it completely removes all the gunk from the grooves by suction and dries the disc. Also with Knosti there is a risk of label damage due to unpredictable runs of the cleaning fluid when cleaning or placing in the rack.

Agreed regarding label damage. It has only (so far) happened once but I wouldn't want it to happen to a valuable pressing.

Thanks everyone. Mike has sorted me out with the second bath for rinsing :)

I too have had problems with the label getting wet. The clamp isn't quite large or watertight enough.

I'm working on a very crude vacuuming system. I'll post pics (perhaps in another thread) once done.

Thanks to everyone :)

Do you let it drip dry after the distilled water rinse?
