Valve Mic

Anyone know anything about valve mics?

A friend has come into possession of a Neumann Gefell. The body is marked MV101, and the head MK102.

Anyone have any info and an approximate value?

It's a measurement microphone and was not designed to be a recording microphone, though it can be converted to do so.

Hi Ali,

Great mics for strings, piano anything acoustic really. Not a mic to be used too close to the source in my opinion, as they need a little "air". Really detailed yet smooth sound. I used to use a pair as overheads for piano and strings. I think a pair went for about £500 recently if that helps.
