Hi, this is probably an obviously stupid question.

If one doesn't have the option/dosh for speakers can you run a CD player straight through a headphone amp or do you still need an integrated amp also?

Hope this isn't too low brow a question.

Thanks.

Hi Ben

It depends on the h/phone amp. Many have volume controls in which case connecting the output of the CD to the headphone amp will be fine.

Best of luck

Ben,
Epiphany acoustics do a fine range of amps/cables that would let you get started. Superlux headphones offer good VFM and sound...check out the Thomann site. Bang for buck a headphone rig will get you great sounds for minimal outlay!!!!!

I can highly recommend the iFi Audio iCAN headphone amp. Superb sound quality and you get two stage bass boost (which doesn't harm the sound quality) and crossfeed and 3D surround which are fun to play around with.

I can recommend the NVA AP10H, 30 days return to sender if you decide it isn't for you. Considering that it's sold direct also represents exceptional value and should be judged with stuff 2x to 3x the cost.

The simple answer to your question is yes.Good luck with your headamp search.I have owned twelve in the last couple of years, and have at last narrowed it down to just a couple.
