Standard power cord

After trying a few power cords(Audioquest NRG2, Supra LoRad, Kemp Lo Power) on my amplifiler, I allways came back to the standard power cord. The Kemp is good, but the amp lose the drive. BTW, the amp is a Densen B 110. Anyone could explain why sometimes is better to use the standard cable?

I have always heard any cable to be better than the supplied one.
However I did sort out 'the front end' first

Good earth and unswitched sockets, no multiway adaptors

I've tried a few different powercords over the years and sometimes they sound worse or just different from the stock ones?

Only cord that I've been impressed with of late is the Mark Grant 2.5.

To a degree I will agree with "HIMSELF" above to say that your audition list wouldn't get my juices flowing for sure. They do not represent the pinnacle in mains cable design, but they should show a 'difference' if no improvement at least.

Secondly, I have a "standard" moulded cable here you could tie a ship up with it's that thick.

Next, the Densen is already a pretty lively and upfront amp in it's own right and many would be hard pushed to detect the addition of even a mid range priced supercord.

Finally, you like what you like to hear and if you derive no benefits from a mains cable swap then simply forget about it and enjoy your system as it is. It isn't compulsory you upgrade your mains leads :eyebrows:

Nuno, if I remember correctly, Densen don't just supply any old mains leads with their gear. They may not look special, but they've been chosen as best for the job (within a certain budget). However, that's not to say that you can't do better, but what you've tried so far hasn't been better, merely 'different'.

What is it about the Densen mains leads you're unhappy about? If they sound best to you, then just stick with them and save your money! :)

I always ask them if they have a budget in mind as most people do, then when I know how much they are comfortable spending I
recommend the best mains lead I know of for that price, its worked well for the last 3 years as in all that time less than 5 have sent any mains leads back.

I have to say that Supra Lo-Rad works very well in my system. Used on my BluRay player and four of my Cyrus bits, namely both PSX-R's, pre and cd transport. I also use it on a Sounds Fantastic 6 way mains block. I'm a little surprised that anyone has had bad experiences with it but Marco's comment about system synergy could be considered fair. It also surprises me that there are so many people who have issues with mains products and can't hear any differences. Each to there own, and as this argument has raged so vehemently for a very long time, even I'm getting bored by it.

Marco.Kemp advice the Hi Power for power amplifiers and the Lo Power for sources and pre´s.But I guess the Lo Power is a budget version, and is OK for amplifiers, too.
Marco, do you have experience with the Lo Power on amplifiers?I m trying again the Lo power, it seems to focus better the soundstage than the standard cord!

I get nearly all my cables from david here. its really easy to use the silver sleeves and crimp the ends , using quality furutech plugs can make a very cost effective cable
