Problem with Bushmaster MK2 and Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z Motherboard

Got my Bushmaster yesterday (great prompt service off Stan) i connected it to my Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z Motherboard through SPDIF and it won't work.
No problem with the Bushmaster, i connected it to an old Toshiba DVD player and all is well, i've made sure that SPDIF is enabled in bios, i've made sure my drivers are up to date and i've set SPDIF (optical) as default device. But still nothing through SPDIF. No 'red light' at the end of optical interconnect when music is being played, i'm stumped, any ideas's folks?

I guess the only other option if i can't get the mobo to connect SPDIF is to buy a cheap adaptor, either phono to USB or SPDIF to USB?:scratch:

The motherboard has a header for another spdif out with co-axial and optical, you need a backplate adaptor to use the header.

this assumes the problem is with the optical socket and not the audio circuits or drivers

Hi Iain,

Thanks for your response, i'm wondering if the optical socket is duff. Re-installation of drivers and ensuring that SPDIF is enabled in bios and media players, as well as SPDIF as the default option in Windows 7 sounds and Realtek HD Audio manager has proved futile.

Should arrive by the middle of next week, and hopefully i'll begin to enjoy my Bushmaster.:)

Good luck, it certainly looks good, and at least it will work even if it is the audio chipset that's at fault.
