Hello, been lurking here for a while and reading a lot with interest. Finally got around to joining. Though I've been into music and hifi for a long time I had a long break from "proper" music listening until just over a year ago when I bought a new, vinyl based system.

Current system is a 1982 LP12, which I recently cirkused, (very happy with the change that made) Exposure integrated into Sonus Faber Cremona Auditors. I'm mostly listening to 50's / 60's jazz, which I absolutely love on vinyl.

Welcome to AoS Jim and I hope you enjoy your stay with us. Your account of your reintroduction to hifi very much mirrors my own although I jumped back into the game nearly five years ago now. What has been cool about climbing back into the cockpit is that much of the equipment I lusted after back in the 1970's & 80's can now be had for reasonable to little cash and with some judicious research can be picked up in good condition still. All my equipment is used barring my passive pre-amp and the odd set of cables and as I've uprated various components and ancillaries the system has gradually moved out of the way allowing the music to really shine. It is quite staggering what can be put together for a reasonable cost with a bit of thought and some legwork. I wish you all the best in your endeavour although it appears you have made an excellent start already ;)

'50s and '60s jazz eh? Excellent - we shall expect you to remind us of some performers and titles that may have "slipped under the radar"! :)

Welcome to the AoS from me, glad you have rediscovered your musical passion, I posses a CD player and tbh I am getting better results by messing about with interconnects, however most of my listening is on vinyl.

Not very aux fait with jazz, some seem to go on and on with repetitive solo's, whom would you say was the most entertaining?
