Headphones - Sony MDR-V6 (for late night listening)

Cassette deck - NAD 6040

Musical tastes: all types of rock / R&B / guitar based bands / good solo artists from 70s to present day :guitar:
(only dislike is jazz, sorry)

Love live music - been to loads of concerts from 15 to 35 years old, then came marriage and kids :unfair:

Ah, another 306 user. Welcome to the fold Paul I hope you enjoy your stay with us. Take a gander at my signature Paul and you will see that I am using a bespoke passive pre-amp designed and built by Anthony Cresswell of BTE Design. My previous pre was a Classé Audio DR5 which was a gem of a pre however the BTE unit outperforms the Classé significantly. The BTE drives my 306 very well indeed so if you want further details chuck a PM my way. thanks guys, should say that I hang out on the Wam as well, my first bake off a week tomorrow (well other than private ones with a mate - who is entirely responsible for the 506.24), planning to take my speakers along to be abused by other amps

just bought a Graham Slee phono stage so now have options on a pre . . . might get a Meridian pre for now as the system is in the family room so others use it and a remote will make it wife / kids proof, e.g my 15 y.o. daughter requested vinyl for Christmas, so I have converted her to the dark side . . . . not sure that 5 Finger Deathpunch will quite be to my taste tho :eek: I am told that the recent concert she went to was "sick" :confused:

will certainly have a read, thanks - my 306 is recent, bought from a mate and in lovely condition

the Audiolab will go for service (needs a recap), but will keep as *hopefully* #1 daughter will get her own place post-uni and then I'll be quickly able set her up with a music system
yes you may guess that I have designs on her room as a listening room, given a good month I should be able to clear it enough to sit in (the built in wardrobes would make nice LP storage :))

Bowie - it's Bowie yes? like the coolest man in the world, saw last on his last big tour - new and old tracks, pretty much the man who was the sound track to my teenage years
Springsteen - last seen @ Old Trafford cricket ground was a beautiful night, plenty of bars open and I wasn't driving :)
Eagles - Huddersfield, Hell Freezes tour. not a bum note all night
Chris Rea - now there's a man who wrote great songs, sadly I think past his best after his illness
AC/DC - long time ago (1982-ish), full of dads with their lads, great atmosphere - evryone knew every word
Rolling Stones (1982 Roundhay Park) - start of a quite long term relationship ;)

oh so hard, probably Bowie

Great stuff. Al very talented people. I must admit that Springsteen brings huge energy to his performances and some of his writing was inspired. Never heard Bowie live but would like to.
