I'm Peter and just signed up to this forum. I've a real mix of kit, mostly I use my iMac with an Audiolab M-Dac and a couple of Cyrus Power Amps with PSX power supplies. I have a Cyrus CDXT SE transport but don't use it much. I also have other bits of kit including a Linn LP12/Ittok LVII/Denon 103 connected to a Naim NAC32/Hi-Cap. I mostly use this for copying vinyl to CD. Still have a working A&R A60 Amp, Naim NAP250 (in need of repair), Linn Karik II CD (works but dodgy), Cyrus CD8SE (needs repair), Cyrus DAC XP+ (also needs repair), Linn Sara Speakers (minus crossovers).

Currently using Paragon Acoustics PA300 speakers which, after stumbling on a post here, drew me to this forum - as someone was asking for some information about Paragon Speakers - I can help here as it was my company (not to be confused with the US company of the same name). We made a few speakers between 1985 and 1989. The original model was the £269 PA2 which did receive a couple of decent reviews at the time (used a modified Audax HD17B25H Bass Driver and Scan-Speak D2008 tweeter). This was followed by the PA200, 250 and 300. The 250 and 300 used a KEF B200 SP1014 and Scan-Speak D2008 tweeter. The 200 had the same KEF driver but with the budget (but really quite good sounding) Audax TW74 tweeter.

Hi Peter, welcome to AOS, quite a range of kit you've got. I had a Karik II for quite a few years and was very happy with it. What music do you listen to?

I rather liked the Linn Karik II - Shame Linn don't support their old products. I listen to all sorts but my all time favourites are Al Stewart, Peter Hammill and T.Rex! Can't say I listen to anything very recent.

I saw Al Stewart performing in about 1971, big fan of Tyrannosaurus Rex but not T Rex so much :)

Tyrannosaurus Rex were unique. I like all four albums especially 'Unicorn' and 'A Beard of Stars'. Electric Warrior was my first 'proper' LP, so I'm rather attached it it. I saw Al Stewart a few times in the late 70's and early 80's but it's his early stuff I like best.

Hi Peter - just joined myself. And amazingly I am still listening to the PA2s (Teak) that I bought back in May 1986 from Billy Vee Sound Systems in Lewisham for £265.00: I have always enjoyed the sound so a big thank you. 29 years further on, I was wondering if I could "improve" my soundscape (mostly classic/jazz) so will be scouring the forums here for tips. Respect to you sir!!

Hello Peter. Welcome to AOS.

That's a varied selection of equipment you have there.

I'm sure you'll find plenty to interest you here. If you have any system changes in mind tell us about them. We like to hear what people are planning.

There is a Gallery section if you'd like to post photos. They're always appreciated.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.
