Was looking at big av amps from richer sounds thinking of just utilising one channel on each amp or is that just daft?

This weekend I pick up some second hand speakers which are 150w RMS, 8 ohm, 92db, my current amp is 30wpc, somewhat underpowered for these speakers (and in need of replacement anyway). My (current) plan is to power these through a DIY First Watt B1 Pre Amp, and a DIY First Watt F5T with a view to expanding to 2 as mono blocks, I do have some concerns with the F5, namely my ability to build one (PS section and bias tuning main concern), ordering US stock, cost (especially considering HMRC!) and size of enclosure/s (would make it very awkward to find a home for 4U chassis next to speakers!). 2 x AMP10's as mono blocks seems like the ideal solution for me, however;
I've never heard of them before (check my post count, there's lot's of stuff I've never heard of :lol:),
SQ, which as they've been recommended here I'm sure is going to be better than my current amp (Bang & Olufsen Beomaster 3000-2) any thoughts on comparison to the F5T?
Skill level required to build, I can solder and (with enough time) follow a basic schematic, but from what I've read instructions are the weak point with these kits?
On the description it states that you'll have to supply a transformer so are the kit's complete apart from this?
What size enclosure would I be looking at to house these?

Is this to replace your bantam amps? I have always been curious about these amps, I have having a wee bake off at my place with John and a few others where the bantams will get a chance to strut their stuff against a big monstar SS amp

Well I'd say 30w should drive 92db pretty well, give it a go before you decide which way to go. If you're pretty new to DIY, I'd venture to suggest building F5T may be a bit daunting as a first amp project, perhaps a chip amp kit with power supply would be easier IMHO.

Im happy with my temple mono blocks and my valve monos.....just took the notion to investigate if there was SS monos under say £500 that would drive my Spendor SP1s and 63s with a different flavour. Just a thought to add something to my stable to play with.

Yes, this is the advice I am receiving, I've just always read that the amp should be more powerful than the speakers to avoid clipping? My current amp is in need of replacement as it's rather impractical (due to lack of inputs) and after the DIY work I have undertaken I'm sure a Pre Amp to Power Amp will sound better than an Integrated Amp and the Mono Blocks will sound better than a Stereo Power Amp? The F5T certainly is a daunting prospect and agree that the chip amps look to be a far more user friendly starting point. Thanks for the link and response, looks like more reading's required.

The NC400 is quite a power house, why would you need 4?

I had 2 these for 3 years , serious grunt . fantastic build . textured sound , very very reliable and very good value . used them with many different pre amps inc some high end stuff and they just got better
