Does a Rega based arm work on a wooden arm board?

I have an Audio Origami modified RB251 fitted to a Technics SL1200 Mk2.
I am currently running a Sound Supports arm board, which seems to work well. I have seen the work that Speedy Steve does, and I am wondering if one of his lovely products would give me an improvement in sound quality?
Has anybody done this already? If so, what were your findings.

I am also thinking about trying to add a Michell 3 point VTA adjuster (or a similar product) to my deck to make VTA adjustment easier, so this could be a nice little project to keep me occupied for a short time.

Hard, I suspect to give a straight yes or no answer, as it may well depend on the overall package. However, I have made three decks using the RB300 out of wood and they all sound very good.

So, for me, the answer has been yes.

arm board materials do give a difference in sound!!

wood may soften the sound a little ...sometimes ply woods may sound better than solid wood

The arm board certainly influences the vibration path between plinth and arm structure. Material isn't the only thing influencing the effect. The type of wood, thickness and fixing all have an influence.
IME the only way to really know which you will prefer is to audition on your own deck...

Hi, I don't have experience on a 1200 but I have an Audiomods rega derived arm mounted to a Luxman PD300 originally mounted on an Lux aluminium armboard until speedy Steve made me an ebony one . The sound difference was very noticeable and much more enjoyable, more musical ,more rhythmic.
well worth the menial cost and effort of fitting
