Parcel Monkey

Last week I sent a faulty Sony 530es amp to a member here who very kindly offered to have a look at it for me ( I think the relays were faulty ). I used Parcel Monkey who in turn used a courier called DX group . Although the amp arrived on time , it also arrived totally wrecked . The volume control knob was sheared off , the chassis was broken in two , and the case had scuffs on the front and dents in both side panels . The amp is now on Ebay 99p start if there's anyone here looking for spares for this amp. Just a warning about this courier gents.

Thanks for the warning,I usually use UPS via interparcel...they have shelves in the walk-in vans.Never had a problem.

This is a first for me George , never had anything wrecked like this before . According to the recipient of the amp the damage wasn't minor making it virtually useless. The casing of the amp was in very good condition when I posted it BTW.

I have used UPS for years and they are by far the best carrier i know of, having used many in my time. Every parcel is handled with care and placed on shelving in the van, not chucked in a heap and walked on.

Another thumbs-up for UPS. They're the only carrier I trust with kit like amps etc. Never, ever had cause to complain about UPS service...first class.

Please don't forget that companies like Parcel Monkey & Parcel2Go.com are "middlemen" offering services from multiple couriers, so if something breaks, it's down to courier choice / bad luck rather than Parcel Monkey etc's fault. Personally I like Royal Mail Special Delivery or UPS.

I was scouring Indeed job site yesterday and DX Group cropped up, they were hiring multi drop drivers up and down the country,
seems they are a new company and desperately short on manpower.

Had a similar mishap in November, bought a flat strobe 401 to replace my late raised strobe one,
used Collect+ who i have used the past 3 years or so no probs, as i work from 3pm -11pm,
the parcel came at 19:50pm, so i wasn't it, what proceeded is stuff of horror stories.

Upon discovering there was no one in, the wanker (i don't use it lightly) proceeded to drop my turntable i'm guessing at waist height at least and fucked off downstairs and went away, my elderly next door neighbours heard the bang and opened the door to see my parcel at my doorstep and kindly took it in for me,no notification card through my door,as i live in a very rough area and definitely would've been stolen by the junk balls and alkies that frequent the close to the scumbag dealer in the building, neighbour chaps my door next day, i opened parcel to discover front right corner was pigs eared,idler engagement spring dislodged, another tiny spring which harnesses the speed selector next to the bearing was dislodged also and took me an age to re-connect again as it was in a awkward place, such was the force that the transport bolt that the seller had tightened has snapped the cast motor frame that it bolts onto, to think these people could treat something as badly is incomprehensible,scum of the earth. :steam:

You're contract is with the broker though no-matter who the actual carrier is though so worth reading the small print and always ensure anything valuable is fully insured against damage in transit. If you also photo the goods prior to packaging, and fully packed prior to dispatch you have a record of condition and in the event something is damaged, you claim off the broker. If they use carriers who damage goods regularly, they'll soon change carriers otherwise it costs them money and reputation. One of the most helpful brokers I've found who do take great care with carrier choice and for whom customer feedback is important is parcelbroker.co.uk Highly recommended.

I had a similar experience with a Denon av receiver, it arrived crushed, dented badly in top and bottom, and dropped with such force that the transformer had literally sheared off it's mountings and the lcd display inside had dropped down below the window!!

I'd agree with using UPS, they're the best of the bunch, but I think all couriers employ ex airport baggage handlers!

BTW, the UPS drivers are great guys, when they get to know you the drop the stuff off when your about.

I ordered food from Costco before Christmas which should have ben delivered by UPS on the 19th of Dec and of course it never turned up so phoned Costco on the Saturday to find out what had happened (never ever will I buy on line from Costco again BTW) and they blamed UPS and told me to take it up with them however the delivery was resheduled for the Monday and there was no one going to be home so I stuck a note on my front door asking the driver to stick the stuff at the back door and to remove the note from the front door which he did.

Couldn't ask for better from UPS but as for Costco, shower of bstards.

yep, I know my UPS driver and I remember meeting him in the town and he said he had a parcel for me.I said I would be an Hr before I'd be back and he altered his run so to give me time to get back for it.....thats service for you...

I'm a courier and am familiar with a lot of the companies already mentioned. Personally whenever I've had to post any gear within the UK I have always used Interparcel UK Standard service which is delivered by UPS. I have never had any problems and without exception everything has been collected on time and delivered the next day.

I don't work for UPS but would heartily recommend them for UK deliveries.

Speaking only from bitter personal experience I would never ever use Yodel again. Nightmare.

As I have mentioned on similar threads on various forums over the years you simply cannot afford not to spend a bit of time, effort, and money on good packaging, UPS may well have shelves, as does my companies vehicles, but that is only one small leg on the journey from A to B. The number of times it is handled by various pairs of hands is many, so pack it as well as you possibly can.

BTW I have been to MCRU Towers in Huddersfield in the past, I know where you live :)
