Found this Chinese site that sells some cheap valve amps. They have a number from Raphaelite. Geoff (Walpurgis) got a 6L6 model and seemed quite happy with it. It's available as a kit I think for £286. There seems to be a few 6L6 designs. Prices include surface mail.

I'm not sure that is the 6V6 kit.

I thought this was it:

Here's mine (not a kit):

It's a 6V6 design by the way not 6L6.

Well the above photo is tagged as a 6l6 diy kit amp Geoff. It does look a bit different to your amp.

I'd not heard a heard a 6V6 amp until I bought mine. It's a valve not heard of much here in the UK, I got interested in it on the strength of opinion in America, the descriptions of its character sounded very favourable. I've had many valve amps, but this is by far the 'valviest' I've heard, sounding very lush, sweet and 'romantic', as they say. Whether that's accurate sound or not doesn't matter 'cos it's absolutely gorgeous! Needs pretty efficient speakers though with only 4 watts per channel. Drives my big Tannoys OK, but it I intend to have it driving my 8" L Cao full range speakers which have 94db sensitivity.

6V6 is similar to the 6L6, but as you say Geoff, not so well known over here, being an American valve. Not sure if there was ever a British equivalent?

Here's the link for the amp if I get right. It's 2 x 18W push pull. The company (Sinvot) seems to be well known for their transformers. Your amp Geoff is available for £346.

I believe electrically it's a straight swap with the EL84. There are valve seat adaptors available for this.

Here you go, just found a listing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-VHT-Special-6-EL84-6V6-to-EL84-tube-Adapter-change-a-6V6-tube-to-a-EL84-/131090217620?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e8595fa94

Not sure why you'd want to though, the 6V6 sounds way better than my old Leak Stereo 20 did with its EL84s, nice as it was.

Going by a Leak 25+ you can use EL34/KT66/6L6.

Yeah, I know. But with the duty & carriage it comes to around £500. That's what I paid. A bargain soundwise though. The Sinovt Raphaelite stuff is very classy. Love the sixties styling.

It looks good with the cover on. Still fancy the 2A3 one.

I know, if I had space, I'd be looking towards 2A3 amplification. Trouble is, I've got EL34 monos, the 6V6 amp and two Class A solid state power amps already (not to mention a beefy Class D I'm waiting to put together and also my pre-amps, four CD players, three DACs, four TTs, speakers etc., etc.). I just do not have room for more gear.
