I have owned this TT for a around two years and as a package it has performed flawlessly. The photo above was taken shortly after I bought it however it looks as good now as it did back then, even so I will post up some current photos as soon as I possiblly can. It has a standard bearing which I have kept in excellent condition, the tolerances are very good and it exhibits no wear at all. There is some very minor discolouration in a couple of places on the lower edges of the platter due to minor corrosion and there is a small amount of wear to the finish on the top plate in front of the start/stop switch, but again this is hardly noticeable. Speed stability is spot on and the pitch control works as it should too. The Series III is a peach of an arm and works incredibly well on the TT with a decent, low mass, high compliance cartridge fitted. During my ownership I have run two Goldrings on it, a G900IGC and a G820 both of which gave excellent results. I also ran a Denon DL160 on it for a short while and even though it wasn't a good match for the arm it still performed very well indeed, although it did sound a little bass light.

The addition of a Paul Hynes SR3-21 power supply vastly improved the performance of the TT offering a reduced noise floor with all the benefits that brings, a more solid and extended bass, better dynamics and increased soundstage and resolution. The TT sits on standard Technics feet and would make an excellent project for someone who perhaps wants to take it to a different level with an aftermarket platter and bearing. Either that or keep it as it is because it sounds excellent as it stands.

The only thing which lets the side down a little is the dust cover. Although there are no cracks present it does have a few marks on it, plus some 'erbert has dropped a lit cigarette on it at some point in its life (not me incidentally) which has resulted in a burn and some localised deformation of the acrylic towards the centre/front/top. I will photograph this for you in the very near future. New dust covers are still available and can be bought for around 40 - 50 quid on ebay, mind you I never had the inclination to replace it as it still performs the function for which it was designed, ergo keeping dust off the top plate. Besides, I've never run it with the lid on when playing vinyl anyway. In the photo the SL is equipped with a Herbies Way TT mat however it is now equipped with a Funk Achromat and sounds all the better for it.

So that brings us around to the question of value. Considering the excellent condition of the TT in general and all additional components, excepting the dust cover of course, I think £350 is a fair asking price and I really wouldn't want to let it go it for any less than that...

More photos to come...

I would like to register interest please. Can we see some new pics, particularly of the more worn areas? Thanks.

That's a complete bargain Dave, personally I think that you are very low at the price.

I paid that for a stock TT albeit a minter.

Lefty of PFM is looking for something and seems to be interested in an SL1200/1210 and this really is a great buy, the bleeding Achromat costs £75.

Thread below BTW.
