Road closed between Chertsey and Shepperton as rather a lot of Thames covers the main road

You can cycle through and get wet feet

Not measuring accurately as I was so surprised but it was over 1' deep in places and may be as much as 2'.
I used to think the road was dead flat, now I know it isn't

I'll probably go through it again going home as a diversion is many miles longer

Cycling through a river. Not something I aspired to.

Last night I did come through Thames-on-the-road. Not too bad, slightly less than the morning . I put large plastic bags on my feet to come through, kept my feet dry - excellent
Steady does it and ok. Easier than the morning.

Today I came over the still closed bridge and see the water has retreated slightly - great.
Plastic bags on again and off I gently go.
Good, down on yesterday.
Until a bit further up and it was deeper
Phew over that bit as it becomes shallow
and then back into an even deep bit where it really did feel like cycling across a river. I'm a good bike handler but wondered it I would be taken down.
Nice and steady, my guess is 2' deep.
and out, phew

Over the mini roundabout
Oh looks a bit deep there, not expecting that, wasn't like that yesterday
Bags back on.
Yes deep ish.
Keep bags on and further up the road there is a flood that wasn't there yesterday
Take it easy, low gear just in case
Ah this is the deepest of the lot.
I'm on the pavement I can barely see and the current is trying to take me into the road, and a drop, and then it gets deeper and I can barely pedal and the current gets stronger and I assume I will soon be splashing about.
And one of the plastic bags is dragged down
Not enjoying this. Keep going and eventually out

So if you fancy cycling across a river take my word for it - it's not easy

Different route home tonight
