Acoustic panels for diffraction control

As part of the development for the Rhapsodys, I'm investing in stocks of proper Grade SAE F10 acoustic wool felt 6mm panels. Anyone wanting panels to cut to size for improving diffraction control of their speakers, namely from tweeters, then I can supply these from next week onwards. Either cut 25mm strips to fit around the outer flanges of the tweeters in a square or rectangle and fix with double sided tape, or cut out a rectangle/square for the tweeter flange size from a larger panel and affix to the front baffle over the tweeter using double sided sticky tape or velcro strips.

Features: 6mm (approx 1/4 inch) grade SAE F10 (to BS4060) pressed 100% pure wool felt for effective acoustic absorbtion

Benefits:

- elimination of edge diffraction treble response (HF wave forms travel along the baffle, meeting the baffle edge which acts as a virtual source reflecting the waves out of phase towards the listener). This causes a peak in HF response which contains out of phase distortion so cannot be eliminated via crossover design;

- improved imaging;
- improved HF clarity;
- Smoother HF response;


I can supply the felt in either cut strips, 25mm long or in standard panel sizes:

150mm by 150mm;

250mm by 250mm;

250mm by 500mm.

In this case, the panels are made to measure and cost £45 each due to the very high cost of this grade and thickness (10mm) of felt:
