Hello Everyone,

I have been lurking on The Art of Sound forum for several months and have found this community to be incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. So I finally decided to take the plunge and become a member. I am just getting back into hi-fi after a 15 year hiatus. I caught the bug again after my father gave me his Pioneer PL-71 turntable late last year. I have now dug out my old vinyl collection and am rediscovering just how great it sounds.

Here is my current system:

Pioneer PL-71 turntable with Shure V15 type III cartridge
Adcom GFA-535 amplifier
Rotel RC-850 pre-amplifier
Paradigm Mini MK3 speakers

I am in the process of selecting a new cartridge for the PL-71 now (I will be posting a separate thread on this soon), and in the next couple of months I hope to upgrade the other components.

My music tastes seem to be hopelessly stuck in the 60s and 70s. Some of my favorites include the Moody Blues, Pink Floyd (along with Roger Waters' solo stuff), Led Zeppelin, Alan Parsons, CSN, Fleetwood Mac (and Linsdey Buckingham's solo stuff). There are a few things that I like that are more recent, but most would still consider to be older: Tori Amos, Concrete Blonde, Guster. I need a good injection of new music ideas, so lay them on me if you have any!

Concrete Blonde; I remember one of their drummers was Paul Thompson ex of Roxy Music. Staggeringly good drummer with excellent pace and timing.
