SL1210 Pitch/rpm wobble

Today my SL1210MK2 started to have issues with maintaining correct RPM. You can see the strobe lights wobble. When I moved the Pitch control up, down and back to central is initially stopped the issue (or it may have been about to stop anyway) but the problem returned after a minute or two.

It has an external PS (MCRU) that's been fitted for several weeks. The on-board power...isn't any more! (plus I sold it on eBay, so can't refit it). The TT is a fairly old unit, I think the S/N indicated it might be as old as 1988, if that's possible.

I would try disabling the pitch control using a Molex connector as detailed elsewhere on the forum.

That would at least rule out the pitch fader.

Sorry, thought i'd responded to this earlier.
I had a similar issue but easily fixed it by turning the brake and pitch controls on the main circuit board with a small screwdriver. They are the little blue thingies on the pic below identified by the pink arrows (scuse pic)...bit of trial and error in turning each a little sorted this issue for me. Literally a 2 minute job!

So, an update and thanks for the suggestions: The intermittent speed "wobble" appears to have been cured by the removal of the pitch control and connection of the two middle pins. I've listened to 4 or 5 full albums over a three different days and it hasn't done it at all since. Initially I just removed the connector and very scientifically I jammed a bit of folded tin foil under the middle pins. Gave it 24 hrs and as it seemed to work I removed the foil and used a soldering iron to connect the pins. I may now order a new pitch control, but as I never used it I probably won't bother.

...and now I'm going to beat myself with a big stick because I've just put a big scratch right across "Sunday Morning" on my brand new Velvet Underground LP - what an utter dunderhead!:doh:

Main thing is your TT is up and running. Pity about 'Sunday Morning'. Still, all you have to do is list it on Ebay as 'Near Mint'.
