Has anybody experimented with headphone cables?

Thought I'd try a different cable from the stock offering that Audeze ship which is copper I believe. Toxic Cables specialise in can cables so thought I'd try a silver litz version that Frank makes. So I have and it does sound different with more high end extension but not bright. More detail too. IMHO of course but changing cables may be worth a punt if you're a can fan. Wouldn't go with silver with Sennheisers or Grado though - may be too much of a good thing - but the Audeze range are a little darker and suits well.

I used to have a pair of HD600 which I used Cardas cables, it did improve the sound of the headphone became more 3d and holographic buts that all I tried

Does anybody have any recommendations for Sennheiser HD650 cans?
As I mainly use headphones, it seems best to optimise this before anything else.

I use Ultrasone Pro550s and I got Paul at RFC to make me up a replacement cable for them using Klotz low capacitance microphone cable. Certainly improved on the standard Ultrasone cable but whether it would make a big difference to the Sennheisers I wouldn't be able to say.

Allegedly, the Grado extension cables do their headphones no favours. I've not tried them. Makes you wonder about the fixed cable on their headphones ... :scratch:
But I do love my Grados anyway. :)

I've not tried fancy headphone cables - I just use cheap extension cables off eBay. They work just fine. :)

Disregard my first post. I've gone back to the stock cable which seems to have more depth. There you go.

I was thinking of going DIY.
It can't be that difficult, using two runs of Klotz MC5000 in a braided sleeve, with a bit of heatrshrink for the Y splitter.

I have some vintage Headphones i was going to try new cable as the original is quite stiff & heavy but it is hard getting a curley dual run {Two runs bonded together side by side} as they must resemble the originals..
