Spotify and Who's On it

The Led Zeppelin back-catalogue is now available on Spotify - it looks like they did a deal to sell their merchandise via the Spotty-Service - that would have sealed the deal, I expect.
I remember when I first took a look at Spotify a few years back, there were some glaring omissions for me - Led Zep being one, but also Frank Zappa, The Beatles, Pink Floyd and a few more. The Beatles are still holding out - [no surprises there, from a management company who still insist on selling the songs that have paid for themselves millions and millions of times over at what was the going rate when CD was described as 'a premium product' (have you seen the price of the Red and Blue albums on CD lately?)]

But.....Zappa's there now (admittedly, of minor interest in the big scheme of things, but important to me), along with Floyd and now Led Zep. The Stones and The Who have been there for a good while, but do we know which of the other big hitters are still no longer available?

Haven't you guys got all The Stones, Beatles, Zep, Floyd, Zappa, Crimson, Gabriel etc. albums already :scratch: and if not why not :D

I think Spotify is best used as a discovery tool, certainly is in my case, not for playing all the time or as a replacement source, even 320 kbps isn't enough for my listening enjoyment - it compliments my music collection/system not replaces it and provides a great link for finding new music and deciding if you really want to buy an album, instead of buying something blind, playing it once and then shelving it for good ;)

I love it and since a few hiccups were ironed out recently (they really messed up the interface for awhile, but listened to users and put it right), it has improved radically since first inception. I have been a member from when it starting as an invitation only service and cannot think what I would do without it now.

I know a lot don't like the fact it is now linked to Facebook (my account isn't thankfully), but just get any old Facebook ID and use that to sign up?

As for heavy hitters missing . . . not sure Chris, I only use it for discovery these days.

Nothing to do with what I use it for Tim - I only have it for exploratory work too!
But....because it's become so omnipresent with a lot of people I'd hate for them to think that The Beatles (for example) were irrelevant because they're not able to discover them for themselves.

Metallica were another band who shunned online music services but became available on Spotify just over a year ago. Spotify is now available via so many different devices that it must be hard to ignore for long for those who have stayed off it so far...

i use it all the time, now started using the radio part quite a bit as it links like for like artists and is a good way of discovering new artists

Exactly the reason I have both it and Pandora. Very happy with both services and the 320 Kbps through my dac sounds pretty damn good.
