Hello, I love a wide variety of music but usually something a little bit alternative. My first immersion in music was from punk/New Wave, but my tastes have expanded since then to include jazz, blues classical and some rock (I like the 'blues rock bands such as Led Zep and the Stones as well as the older bands with an edge such as Can). What I dislike is formulaic stuff: pop and rock alike.
I have owned a budget hi fi for many years, bought in the 70s and early 80s. Have recently decided to invest a little more - it seems crazy that music should be so important to me and yet I'm not getting even an average sonic experience. I know very little about hi fi and probably don't really want to become an expert - all that is important to me is to get a good listening experience. To that end I splashed out yesterday on a pair of Tannoy precision speakers. I'm hoping that this will make a massive difference. I'm told the other thing I'll need is a decent amp. I currently have the cheapest Cambridge Audio amp, bought after my ancient Creek bit the dust 5 years ago. Will be asking advice on what to do to upgrade my listening experience.
